The Founder: Mr. Edward J Kaletta
Mr. Kaletta attended Kenrick Seminary before he transferred to Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He earned a bachelors degree in journalism in 1940. He later did graduate work for Marquette.
After college, Mr. Kaletta worked as an editor at a Catholic newspaper in Columbus, Ohio. When WWII began, he worked with the United Service Organization (USO) in cities throughout the United States.
Mr Kaletta later entered the Navy and served almost two years before he was honorably discharged in 1945. He returned here to St. Louis where he worked breifly in public relations. Mr. Kaletta was then hired as a salesman for the former St. Louis Candle & Wax Co.
In 1948 Mr. Kaletta ventured out on his own and founded Kaletta Candle Company. With three brothers as Priests and his Father owning and operating The Kaletta Statuary Company, he quickly developed relationships within the religious community in St. Louis, the Midwest and throughout the United States.
